Tear Me Apart by J.T. Ellison is a twisty domestic thriller that questions how far you would go for family.

Mindy Wright is only seventeen but she is an incredibly talented skier. While racing in the Alpine Downhill World Cup in order to qualify for the olympic team, she crashes and is taken to the hospital. While correcting her broken leg during surgery, the doctors find Mindy also has Leukemia and her whole world is flipped upside down. In order for her to get the stem cell transplant treatment she needs, she needs a donor that is a genetic match. When Mindy’s parents are tested and neither are a match, or even genetically related to Mindy, secrets begin to surface.

Mindy’s life is on the line and depends entirely on her treatment, so the race is on to find a match. All the while her family is falling apart as all the secrets that have been pent up for years begin to unravel around them.

The story is told in two timelines. One is present day as the events of Mindy’s life and treatment are unfolding. The other is through letters written back and forth between two women, Liesel & V, 25 years earlier.

This is such an interesting thriller full of family drama! I don’t want to say too much for fear of spoiling things, but holy cow, what a ride!
