2019 Bookish Resolutions

Now that we’re a full month and a half into 2019, I figured it was about time I laid out my bookish resolutions of the year. Better late than never, right?

First, my Goodreads goal is to read at least 85 books. I read 90 last year, so this goal shouldn’t be too hard to hit. Even though I am already 2 books behind as I type this. Oops.

Next up, I’ll be continuing my goal of reading more diversely. This was my original goal in 2018 and I was very happy with how it turned out. I’m finding myself more aware of when a book is NOT diverse and it ultimately makes me less interested in the book. I don’t need to see things that are a carbon copy of my life printed on the pages, I need to read a plethora of experiences so that I can have a better, more broad view of our world.

Now, as far as reading challenges go, I wrote up a post on the Beat the Backlist Challenge by NovelKnight that I’ll be participating in. I’m super excited about this challenge! I have so many books on my TBR that just keep stacking up and unless I make a commitment to read them, it’ll never happen. So, I’ve got a list of 13 books I hope to read throughout 2019. I’ve already read the first book on my list, so watch for that review soon!

Finally, I’ll be participating in a reading challenge created by my co-host and I for our podcast listeners! It’s called Our Life In Books Reading Challenge 2019 (#OLIB2019) and I hope to have a post up explaining it all soon. Yes, I realize I’m late with that post as well, but all the info can be found on Episode 11: 2019 Here We Come, as well as on our Instagram page.

Whew, I think that’s all for this year. Although, I’m always here for adding more. 😉

Do you set reading goals for yourself? What are your goals for 2019?

  1. I set reading goals for myself, but they tend to be fairly loose and simple goals. For example, I don’t say “I’m going to read these specific books this year” and instead do things like “I’m going to read books over 500 pages once a month this year” or something to that effect.

  2. It’s likely the best time to make a new year’s resolution because everyone else is breaking their own! No goals, per se, but I do read two books a month for my followsummer.com blog and at least one book a month where I do a Q&A, books I read to my 10 year old and any other book I want to read. I am all about the love of reading.
