Review

It is no secret that I love a good psychological thriller and The Perfect Girlfriend absolutely fits that bill. It is such an interesting look at obsession and how manipulative one person can be. But even in spite of that, while reading you still find yourself sympathetic to the character doing the manipulating, in a weird way.

Ever since Juliette’s boyfriend Nate broke up with her, she has planned on getting him back by being the perfect girlfriend. She has changed her look, become a flight attendant for the same airline as Nate, she even continues to stock his freezer with his favorite foods. Now that she feels he’s had enough time, Juliette begins plotting their first meeting since the break up. This manipulation of situations continues as Juliette is determined to get what she wants.

In between the crazy story of Juliette and Nate, we get glimpses of Juliette’s past that allows us to see the possible events that have lead to where she is now. I love the dark places this book goes and the suspense that builds up as Juliette goes deeper into her obsession. Definitely give this one a read if suspense and thrillers are your thing!

Thank you so much to Graydon House and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book!

Copy of Book Quote

“The thing I’ve discovered about guilt is that some days you can live with it. Other days, it hits–like grief–without warning and it burns, all-consuming and acidic. And the worst of it is that there is nothing you can do.”

-Karen Hamilton, The Perfect Girlfriend

*Please note, this quote is from an ARC copy, so it may change in the final copy.

Synopsis: Juliette loves Nate.

She will follow him anywhere. She’s even become a flight attendant for his airline so she can keep a closer eye on him.

They are meant to be.

The fact that Nate broke up with her six months ago means nothing. Because Juliette has a plan to win him back.

She is the perfect girlfriend. And she’ll make sure no one stops her from getting exactly what she wants.

True love hurts, but Juliette knows it’s worth all the pain…
