Hello and happy Sunday bookish friends!
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that I am in Insta-jail. Basically this means I have a “temporary” ban on my account. From everything I’ve read they usually last 24-48 hours in which you cannot like, comment, or post. However, I’ve been unable to use my account for almost 2 weeks now. I have reported the issue to Instagram with no response.
I’ve built my Instagram page up for the last 4 years, putting lots of work into it. I take photos every Sunday and plan my week out ahead of time. I’ve had the privilege of working with lots of publishers, authors, and brands. So to have the use of my account taken away so suddenly and without explanation has been frustrating. I feel lost without my ability to connect with the book community.
Because of this, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting and realized that I need to put more work into my blog. I’ve always loved blogging, it gives me more freedom than Instagram and I own my domain! With Instagram, I clearly have no control. They can ban me without reason and leave my account in limbo for an open-ended period of time.
With this in mind, when I sat down to take my photos this week, I did so with the knowledge that the photos I took would be for blog posts rather than the ‘Gram. It was definitely a change for me, but I’m hoping it’s a good change for the future!
If you made it this far, thank you so much for reading and sticking with me! Let me know in the comments below if you’ve ever experienced issues with Instagram. Or if you haven’t, I would love to know something positive happening in your life!
